Case Consult Group: Love, Sex & Intimacy

Here’s your chance to become a better therapist, discussing your work and the work of others in a professional, supportive, thought-provoking setting. We talk about things like being stuck; about disliking difficult patients; about ambivalence regarding money; about boundaries and risk-taking; and about feeling judgmental about patients’ choices or sexuality.

And we don’t just talk–you’ll learn new strategies, new narratives, new solutions. Practical solutions. You may even learn how you’re holding back from being more powerful in session.

My monthly case consultation groups resume this winter, with the theme of Love, Sex & Intimacy. We’ll cover both couples and individual cases–two cases during each monthly 90-minute session. Topics typically include:

– Infidelity
– Power struggles
– Pornography & fantasy
– Sexual function
– Medical issues
– Conflict management
– Countertransference
…and whatever else group members bring in.

Groups resume on September 9 and continue on the second Wednesday of the month. Meetings will be 10-11:30am and 11:45am-1:15pm PACIFIC time, your choice (you can choose your section before our first meeting).

Sessions will be recorded so that if you miss one, you can go back and watch or listen to it. With this small group (5 people, a tech person, and me), each participant will get a chance to present a case (or introduce a discussion topic) several times during our five months. The work will be both practical and theoretical, and we’ll laugh out loud every session–that’s a promise!

You CAN use these group hours for AASECT (re)certification if you wish.
